GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY

At the dollhouse, giving back isn’t a checkbox—it’s a lifestyle.

Salon owner and Oregon native Meggan Dickson uses the spotlight of her business as a megaphone for impact, turning everyday beauty into real-world change. Because when you’ve got a seat at the table, you don’t just sit—you set the table for others too.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

In December 2019, the dollhouse went full glam for good with a luxury Pureology raffle—because giving back should still feel a little fabulous.

While one lucky guest walked away with a high-end haircare dream, the real win was the community impact. Every ticket sold fueled donations to the Lifeline Food & Self-Help Project.

In a district where many students rely on free or reduced lunch—and where school lunch balances can quietly stack up—the dollhouse helped step in where it mattered most. Public donations were amplified, funds were pooled, and every dollar went toward wiping out student lunch debt through the Oregon School District.

Because no child should ever feel the weight of an empty plate.

And through the Womxn in Business collective—founded and led by Meggan—the dollhouse helped turn seasonal raffles into meaningful support for the Lifeline Food Pantry. Holiday magic, but make it matter.

SUPPORTING THE ARTS

Art builds soul. And we’re here for all of it.

From first chords to final curtain calls, the dollhouse believes creativity should never be a luxury.

We proudly supported Aireloom Music, a local creative haven where students of all ages could explore instruments—and even access scholarships to make lessons possible. Because talent deserves a starting point, not a price tag.

And when OJSHS decided to upgrade their theater seating in 2024, the dollhouse at w@sh showed up—because culture deserves comfort, too. If you’ve ever sat in those seats, you’ve been part of that story.

SPREADING THE LOVE THROUGH SELF CARE

Self-care hits different when it’s shared.

For Valentine’s Day, dollhouse artists brought beauty and care directly into the Dixon PADS Homeless Shelter, offering cuts and styling services to women in the shelter community. A little glam, a lot of dignity, all heart.

Through the “Look Good, Feel Good” campaign (2019–2020), clients purchased professional haircare at cost—turning Mother’s Day into a full-circle moment of donation, with products gifted back to those in need.

The Womxn in Business Christmas Raffle (2021) continued the tradition, raising funds directly for Dixon PADS Shelter.

And our beloved braid bars? Those were never just styling moments—they were pop-up community love affairs. The 2021 “w@sh + c(hair)ity” event transformed braids into donations for HOPE of Rochelle, proving beauty can absolutely fund change.

BRAIN CANDY

Books. Stories. Escapes. We’re big believers.

the dollhouse showed up with box after box of donated books to help pack the shelves of beloved independent bookstore The Scarlet Page—run by Jennifer Grygiel- because supporting local isn’t a trend, it’s a commitment.

And because every kid deserves the magic of choosing their own story, the dollhouse donated to the 2024 Scholastic Scholarship Fund at Oregon Elementary. Think Scholastic Book Fair energy—but make it accessible for every student.

BLM MARCH

In 2020, our community stood together—loud, peaceful, and unified.

From babies to veterans, families and friends gathered for the Black Lives Matter March organized by local youth (including a former dollhouse intern). Watching young leaders create space for justice—and the community show up in support—was a defining moment of pride and accountability.

Real change starts local. Ours started with listening.

EYES ON THE FUTURE

At the dollhouse, mentorship isn’t optional—it’s part of the culture.

Through OJSHS Works and the Transitions program, high school interns step into real-world salon experience—learning everything from laundry flow to operational rhythm in a working luxury environment.

From school-based training to hands-on business immersion, students learn what it means to show up, contribute, and grow inside a professional space that believes in them before they fully believe in themselves.

The future of the industry is already walking through our doors.

COMMUNITY AT A GLANCE

The dollhouse continues to show up for causes like Denim Day, Shop Local initiatives, Strands for Trans, and the Maggie & Amos Foundation—because community care isn’t a campaign, it’s our operating system.
