JOINING THE GREEN MOVEMENT

In June 2019, the dollhouse at w@sh proudly joined the Green Circle Salons movement — a professional sustainability initiative dedicated to eliminating salon waste and moving the beauty industry toward near-zero environmental impact.

The professional salon industry generates more than 420,000 pounds of waste daily. Through our partnership, the dollhouse is Certified Sustainable, actively diverting 95% of salon waste away from landfills and into responsible recovery systems  — protecting the air we breathe, the water we share, and the soil beneath our communities for generations to come.

REDUCE / RE-USE / RECYCLE

Our sustainability philosophy is simple and intentional:

Reduce what we consume. Re-use what we can. Recycle what remains.

What cannot be reused is transformed into renewable energy sources, helping power homes and businesses while reducing environmental impact.

Through Green Circle’s recovery systems:

• Metals are cleaned, recovered, and refined into new materials such as bicycle frames and industrial components

• Chemicals are safely contained to prevent contamination of waterways

• Hair clippings are repurposed into oil spill recovery booms and donated for environmental cleanup efforts

• Clean hair is transformed into pet beds and contributed to disaster relief initiatives

• Ongoing innovation includes research using hair for stormwater filtration systems and bio-composite materials

• Additional salon materials such as Styrofoam, electronics, towels, and lightbulbs are responsibly diverted from landfill waste streams

IMPACT AT SCALE

Our commitment to sustainable beauty was not a trend-driven decision — it was a responsibility. Collectively, Green Circle Salons diverts more than 1,000,000 pounds of beauty waste every year that would otherwise end up in landfills. Without intervention, up to 95% of salon waste is traditionally discarded into the environment.

Through our partnership, the dollhouse actively chooses a higher standard — one rooted in accountability, innovation, and long-term environmental stewardship.

We recognize that conscious living matters to our guests just as much as it matters to us. A $2 sustainability contribution is included in every service to support this closed-loop recovery system and maintain our commitment to responsible beauty.
